FSM & Yap State
Yap State is located in the Western Pacific Ocean and among the Western Caroline Islands. It is part of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), which comprises four states: Yap, Kosrae, Pohnpei and Chuuk.
Yap State consists of 138 islands and atolls, of which 22 are populated, stretching across more than 100,000 square miles of Pacific Ocean but only total area of 7 square miles of land.
Yap Proper consists of three islands connected by bridges (Yap, Gagil-Tomil, Maap Island) and one Rummung Island is nearby. It was for long time prohibited island. Now it is possible to go to Rummung Island with special invitation and a guide.
Yap Island is not volcanic, geologically; it was part of the Asian mainland that drifted away. All Outer Island are low lying coral atolls, except Fais, which is a raised atoll with caves and cliffs. Yap Island has few very nice beaches and mangrove forests. All outer islands have very nice long beaches.
You can go by Micro Spirit from Yap Island to Ngulu, Ulithi (Falalop), Fais, Sorol, Eauripik, Woleai, Ifalik, Faraulep, Elato, Lamotrek, Satawal.
You can fly from Yap Island to Ulithi (Falalop), Fais and Woleai.
If you like to experience a real paradise and wonderful nature you should not miss this opportunity to go to these Outer Islands. If you are interested, please contact us as soon as possible so we can make reservations and confirmations. It should be done at least six (6) weeks ahead your arrival. Some of these islands do not have electricity and telephone, so it is more difficult to contact them and arrange accommodation but we can do it for you! You can meet traditional chiefs, stay with the local people and experience the great wonder of these islands.
